The Flesh (sinful nature, old man, evil heart of unbelief, carnal mind,) desires against God's Spirit and God's Spirit desires against "the flesh."
Do not confuse "the flesh" (here) with the physical body, otherwise Jesus was carnally minded. Those in the flesh (sinful nature) cannot live as they want.
EITHER God delivers us from "the flesh" here and now or He does not.
