07/16/10 CONCERNING "LUCK"

07/16/10 CONCERNING "LUCK"

I think this is reasonable. I disagree with most people's view of LUCK, which is tied to chance or fate, I think that most things that are considered to be "LUCKY" happen when Preparation Meets Opportunity, such as my "Luck" shots on the Pball court. "Bad luck" is either lack of preparation or opportunity.

In the game of life, both Divine destiny and human co-operation determine the outcome. Find God's will and submit.

KWITCHURBELIAKIN about bad luck.

Just a few thoughts...

Like you, I get tired of hearing about HOW LUCKY so-and-so is, and HOW UNLUCKY the other person is.
One person trusts, follows and obey God and they seem to have "good luck."
Some people wait for things to line up, and they end up just waiting in line, wondering why nothing good ever happens to them.
Some people apply themselves to succeed, but their boat never comes in.
Some people never do anything right, but they always come out of bad situation, smelling like a rose.

Psalms 37:1-8
1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Romans 8:28
2 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Let me illustrate from personal experience.

God blessed me with fair athletic ability, thus providing natural capacity.
I have always participated in some sports activity, thus sharpening my skills.
I played years of Table Tennis.
Pickleball involves several Table Tennis skills.

I have applied myself to understand the principles of Pball (positioning, angled shots, English, opponent abilities and strengths).
I visualize difficult plays and shots.
I wear clothes that do not interfere with my plays or shots.
When faced with strange, difficult, "unplayable" situations, sometimes I am able to make "impossible" shots.
This is because I have prepared for those opportunities.

Apply these principles to your daily life and service to God, and then take advantage of your opportunities and challenges when they arise.
We do our part and trust God with the results.

Luck has nothing to do with it.
