God's people live by faith.
Abraham lived in this world by faith.
God made promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (not the sons of Hagar and Keturah).
Know what you are looking for.
In this world, not Of this world.
Love not this world.
Seek the Lord.
Jesus Christ is our Foundation Rock, not men.
Overview of Message...
Abraham was a man of faith. We do not have to be super saints or highly gifted with intelligence, talent or money, and all of us can be men/women of faith.

Hebrews 11
God led Abraham (Abram) out of Iraq, to Syria and then to Canaan (the Promise Land).
God made His promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (the Israelites/Jews).
Not Hebrews 11
God did not extend Abraham's promise to Abraham's son Ismael (by the concubine, Hagar).
God did not extend Abraham's promise to Abraham's sons or their descendants, Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, Shuah, Sheba, Dedan, Asshurim, Letushim, Leummim, Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, Eldaah, the founding nations of the Muslim world (by his wife Keturah). Genesis 50:24; Genesis 25:1-6
Abraham, the Father of the Faithful.
Abraham lived in this world but looked for a city and country not made with hands, whose Designer and Builder is God. Abraham knew what he was seeking.
Hebrews 11:8-16
Illustration
A shell hunter, traveled the beaches of the world, looking for a specific, precious shell. Time and again he would look, comment, "That's not it." and then he would toss it away When he finally found the shell he looked, commented, "That's it," and by habit, tossed the shell away. He had forgotten the value of what he sought.

John 7:34
34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
We live in this world, but we are not of this world. People think fulfillment is found in a place, when it is actually in a relationship with Christ.

We live in this world, but we are not of this world. People think fulfillment is found in a place, when it is actually in a relationship with Christ.
John 17:11-16
Abraham lived in tents while passing through this world, looking for an eternal home, whereas most people settle for a transient home in this world, when they can be sure of an eternal home.
Hebrews 11:9-10
We all live in this world, but believers are strangers and travelers in this world. We are not of this world.
1 Peter 2:11
Since we only spend a short time here and forever in the world to come, it would be wise to get our reservations and catch our Ride. We should seek the Lord, while He may be found, because there comes a time when He cannot be found. Don't miss the boat (illustrated with missing Cedar Island Ferry).
Build your life on an invisible, but sure Foundation Rock, Jesus. Not me or Peter or any other man. Jesus is a boulder (Petra), but Peter (Petros) is a pebble. Jesus is the Rock and all other ground is sinking sand.
Mathew 16:18-19; Matthew 7:21-27
SEEKING The Lord
Isaiah 55:6-7
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Matthew 6:33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Seeking Self Satisfaction
Philippians 2:21
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
Seeking Death Rather Than Seeking The Lord
Revelation 9:6
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
