05/30/10 AM WORSHIP...

05/30/10 AM WORSHIP...

A song says, They Didn't Die For This.
American military did not die for America to turn against God and Christian ideals.
Apostles, Ministers, Missionaries did not die for the Church to deny Christ's Lordship.
Jesus did not die for believers to sit back in apathy.

We hold the keys to Freedom.
Jesus sets us free from Guilt, Carnality, Sinful Living, Fear of Death and Persecution.

SET MY PEOPLE FREE.

NOTES PART 1...
Christians are citizens of Two Worlds; the earthly and the heavenly (Jn. 17:14-16).
God has appointed the State to protect the righteous and punish the wicked (Ro. 13:3-4; 1 Pe. 2:13-14).
God has appointed the Church to reconcile the world to Himself (2 Co. 5:28-20).

The State wields the sword of steel as a servant of God, to maintain civil order (Ro. 13:4).
The Church wields the Sword of the Spirit to wage spiritual warfare (Ep. 6:17).
We should render honor to those who deserve honor, whether in earthly government (Ro. 13:6-7) or Divine order (He. 13:7,17).

This world government and life is a passing, transient thing (1 Pe. 1:24).
God's Kingdom is eternal (2 Pe. 1:11). We should invest in that which is eternal (Mk. 8:36).

PASSAGES PART 1...
John 17:14-16 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (15) I pray not that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil. (16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Romans 13:3-4
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.

1 Peter 2:13-14
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us; we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Ephesians 6:13-17
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Romans 13:6-7
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Hebrews 13:7, 17
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

1 Peter 1:24
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:

2 Peter 1:11
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mark 8:36
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

NOTES PART 2...
Luke 4:18
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

The kingdoms of this world have sufficient numbers who will wield the sword of steel (Mt. 7:13), but there are few who will wield the Sword of the Spirit (Mt. 7:14; 22:14).
Since this world is passing away (1 Co. 7:31), and since the spirit world is eternal (1 Jn. 2:17), it is incumbent on the Christian to be a soldier in the service of God (2 Tm. 2:3-4).

Just as the governments of this world secure civil stability and provide peace for the citizens, so the Gospel secures freedom for those who are part of the kingdom of God. Though Christ we find freedom (Jn. 8:36).

Here are some of the areas, from which Christians are set free.

Freedom from Guilt... Romans 8:1

Freedom from Carnality... Romans 6:6-7, 9

Freedom from Sinful Living... Romans 6:12-13, 16-23; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Colossians 3:5-9

Freedom from the Fear of Death... Psalm 23:4; 1 Corinthians 15:54-57; Hebrews 2:15

Freedom from the Fear of Persecution... Matthew 10:28; Acts 5:40-41; Hebrews 13:6; 1 Peter 3:14

PASSAGES PART 2...
Matthew 7:13-14
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 22:14
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

1 Corinthians 7:31
31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away.

1 John 2:17
17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever.

2 Timothy 2:3-4
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

John 8:36
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Romans 4:7-8
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Romans 8:1
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 6:6-7, 9
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

Romans 6:12-13, 16-23
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Colossians 3:5-9
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Psalms 23:4
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:15
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Matthew 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Acts 5:40-41
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Hebrews 13:6
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

1 Peter 3:14
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

SET MY PEOPLE FREE...

We hold the Keys to the Kingdom. We either set people free through the preaching/teaching of the truth or we keep people bound by hiding the truth.

Matthew 16:19
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

John 11:43-44
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

1 Corinthians 15:34
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
