04/30/10 GATHERING, INCITING, ENTREATING...

04/30/10 GATHERING, INCITING, ENTREATING...

In Hebrews 10:24-25 we see that God wants His people to
1. Gather Together,
so that they might,

2. Provoke, Incite One Another to love and good works,
and that we should,

3. Exhort, Beseech, Entreat One Another.

Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

There is a WALK and TALK aspect to this. We should provoke one another through our works and exhort one another with our words.

When we come together for worship, fellowship, study, service,
We should come with expectancy and excitement.
We should come with full cups of praise and jubilation.
We should come together, looking for opportunities to let our joy, love and excitement splash onto others, because some folks will come in need of a blessing, in need of an example, in need of encouragement.

The writer tells us that there are people who are not coming together with other believers, which he condemns.
We, on the other hand, are expected to be an active part of an active body of believers, and all the more as the end times come.

Notice, “as the day is approaching” implies that believers should have some knowledge and awareness of where the world is in the plan of God and we should act accordingly. The later it gets, the more we need to avail ourselves of spiritual fellowship.
