05/15/10 Dave's Sportaphore

05/15/10 Dave's Sportaphore
(metaphors from sports).

A very good Pball player, recently released from hospital, played Friday. He said he was about 20%, so I went easy on him. When we teamed up, I moved into his area to make it easy for him. It put me at jeopardy and demanded more from me, but he was my teammate. Sometimes, in the Church, we need to go easy on those who are weaker and sometimes we need to carry their load.

Helping the Weak...
Romans 14:1

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

Romans 14:21
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak.

Romans 15:1
1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

1 Corinthians 8:9, 11-13
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world stands, lest I make my brother to offend.

1 Corinthians 9:22-23
22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:14
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Galatians 6:2
2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Romans 12:10
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

Philippians 2:3
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Romans 12:16
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
