05/14/10 Jesus and Politics...
Pssst, (whispering slyly and glancing nervously over shoulder) come here and let me tell you something ... (yelling) THE EMPEROR IS NOT NAKED, (normal voice) because his subjects have given him everything they have, including what belongs to God. Ooooops, there I go again, talking politics. But then again, Jesus said it first (Mk. 12:17). If we don't know who has authority over what, we won't know who gets what.
Mark 12:17
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marveled at him.
Here is the thing, Jesus did not promote political parties (or demand voting), but He did expect us to choose our God carefully and then serve Him fully. This actually makes us part of the moral action of the day, guided by God and not the State.
