05/08/10 ABOUT MY MOM
I really loved my Mama. Everyone knew she was so much fun, but she went through a lot of physical suffering. Daddy and I spent a lot of time in hospitals with her. While I was in Bible college I led my mom to faith in Christ. It wasn't long afterwards that she died. I cried. I would think about her and cry. Years later, as a husband and dad, I would read her letters, sit and cry. I still miss and love Mama.
I Remember...
After being home for a weekend (Morehead City), I was returning to JWC (Greensboro) when the transmission in my dad's '59 Impala convertible went bad, just outside of Raleigh. I had to leave it at parking lot along the road and catch a bus into Greensboro.
I think it was the following weekend I took the bus back to Raleigh, where I joined Daddy, in order to tow the car to Morehead.
Mama had not been feeling well, so I was not expecting to see her in Raleigh, but when I got off the bus, there she was. It was not long after she had found Christ. The moment that we saw each other we both sensed a new and deeper relationship than we had ever known before. I cannot think of that moment without feeling the joy and love, and welling up with tears. It really was a glorious reunion.
HOW 'BOUT YOU?
For those who still have their mothers and grandmothers, especially the godly ones that have sacrificed and prayed for you; do not miss your opportunities to tell them, show them that you love them.
But, then again, you might be really busy, so maybe you can do it later, not that it really matters... except to them.
