09/10/10 JOBES FAITH

09/10/10 JOBE'S FAITH

One of the most difficult aspects of Job's suffering had to be his lack of human support, acceptance, understanding, love, fellowship and friendship. Not only did he suffer loss of property/wealth, loss of health and loss of loved ones to tragedy, he lost the respect/confidence of his wife, friends and community and he lost his spiritual impact on his society. Yet, he never lost sight of his Redeemer (Job 19:25-27).

An Extraordinary Faith...

Remember, Job lived around the same time as Abraham, before the writings of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy). He did not have the example of men like Moses, Joshua or David; the comfort of Psalms; the wisdom of Proverbs; the record of the earthly life/death/resurrection of Christ; the teachings of Paul, John, Peter. Yet, he had a clear understanding of his Redeemer.

Job 19:25-27
(25) For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
(26) And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
(27) Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
