1/11/10 PRAISING THE LORD in 2010.

PRAISING THE LORD in 2010.
Psalm 107:1-3. I explained my own Practice of Praising; how it started, why I do it, how people respond, what the Bible says and why all believers should Praise the Lord verbally and often. I pointed out that Book of Psalms is Praise song book, but only 67 verses in Psalms have both the word PRAISE & LORD. We read and I made brief comments on various verses.

COMMENTS AND VERSES...
PSALMS 107:1-3

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

DLG comments...
I started praising God in everything as freshman in college; not as a mantra or a charm but as true praise. When I am complimented I almost always respond with Praise the Lord. When something bad happens, I usually say Praise the Lord. In everything give thanks and praise.

EPHESIANS 5:19-20
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

PHILIPPIANS 4:6
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

COLOSSIANS 3:17, 23
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:18
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The words PRAISE and LORD are found together in 103 verses of the Bible (KJV), 101 in the Old Testament, with 67 in the book of Psalms.

DLG THOUGHTS FROM SELECTED PSALMS...

7:17 We Praise the Lord by singing, publicly and privately. God's Name represents Him. His Name is not a mantra or charm. We worship God, not simply a name that is separate or distinct from Him.
9:1 We should Praise with the Whole Heart. Our words SHOW His marvelous works.
21:13 We Praise His Power.
22:23 Proper Praise incorporates glorifying God with reverential fear.
22:26 God Feeds the Soul of those who praise.
33:1 Praise is Proper for the believer.
34:1 We should Praise the Lord at All Times. His Praise should Continually be in our Mouths.
40:3 Praising God helps others See, Fear and Trust God.
51:15 Sometimes Praise involves more than just the words Praise the Lord.
54:6 Praise is the Sacrifice of our Lips.

Verbal Praise serves several purposes;
* God is glorified,
* We are encouraged,
* Believers are edified,
* Non-believers are reminded to look to God.

Our Praise words Paint a Picture for others to See God and His Glory.

Praising God during trials is an act of faith.
